Mirari Press signs Rhett Sinnema in three-book deal

Swordlords and Sorcerers of Semble is the first book in this Progression Fantasy trilogy

We’re thrilled to announce that Mirari Press has signed Rhett Sinnema in a three-book deal for his Progression Fantasy trilogy The Legend of Veradintes. The first book in the series, Swordlords and Sorcerers of Semble, is slated for a Spring 2026 release.

What does it take to become a hero?

In Battaria where magic is as common as laughter, all fear the confluences: peculiar storms that warp the land and summon fierce monsters. Sorcerers and warriors give their lives defending against the Dark. But a new evil is coming…

A young man denied the chance to learn magic. A brave warrior betrayed and branded a traitor. A thief imbued with strange powers. A wandering herbalist who prefers animals to people.

Together, they must embark on a journey to uncover and overcome the powers that threaten their very world. These are their first steps.

“This book is a gem. Swordlords and Sorcerers of Semble is clever, immersive, emotionally intelligent, and thematically rich,” says Marius du Plessis, CEO and Publisher. “Rhett's trilogy is set to become a cornerstone of the Mirari Fantasy list - I wish I could fast forward to next year so that everyone can read this!”

About the Author

Woman with long brown hair.

Rhett is the author of Swordlords and Sorcerers of Semble, a book about what it takes to become a hero. It’s the first in a series that blends everything he loves from Sword and Sorcery, Epic, Cozy, and Progression Fantasy. He loves exploring heroism, honour, virtue, and redemption and examining characters who embrace or reject these values and aspirations. He believes that both happy endings and tragedies have their place and that small stories can change your life more profoundly than big ones.

Born in Durban, he earned a philosophy degree, and over the next decade, he did everything from pulling pints and waiting tables to selling toilets, writing articles and SEO, and trading stocks.

When not writing, he’s usually trying to pick up something heavy, get to the top of a mountain, discuss books and movies, or search for new recipes. He lives in Cape Town with his wife, debating what they should make for dinner.
