Four ways into the strange
Mirari Press is an independent speculative fiction house in Cape Town. We publish under four imprints because readers arrive by different roads: some come for the worlds, some for the love story, some for a short, sharp hit, and some for the planet itself.
Every imprint shares one conviction. Speculative fiction can be serious without being bleak, and stories from Africa and the Global South belong at the centre of the genre, not at its edges.

The house. Fantasy and science fiction at full stretch.
Mirari Press is the heart of the house. We publish novels and anthologies of fantasy and science fiction: sweeping secondary worlds, futures near and far, and the books that refuse to fit either. We look for vision, craft and the spark of something strange, with a particular eye for Global South stories, queer perspectives, and mythologies both ancient and invented.
MIRARI REVEL
Mirari Revel is our short-form imprint: stories and novellas with appetite. Revel publishes queer speculative short fiction as standalone ebooks.
We prioritise LGBTQ+ writers from marginalised and underrepresented communities, especially BIPOC voices too often left out of the canon. If you like your fiction strange, subversive and a little spectacular, start here.

ARDEN
Arden is our speculative romance imprint: romantasy, science-fiction romance, and paranormal and gothic love stories, at novel length. In every Arden book the romance is the story, and the speculative world is what makes that romance impossible anywhere else. And every Arden novel keeps romance's oldest promise: whatever the dark, love comes out the other side.

AIUR
AIUR (pronounced "eye-ur") publishes non-fiction shaped by the climate era. Our subjects are environmental science and history, climate justice, deep ecology, Indigenous and land-based knowledge, eco-memoir and regenerative futures.
We look for books that are rigorous, clear and alive on the page. They question the extractive habits of our time and imagine what repair might look like. We have a strong interest in Southern Hemisphere and Global South perspectives.
