SE Tolsen’s horror, BUNNY, to be published in South Africa by Mirari Press
Days after SE Tolsen’s psychological horror BUNNY won the 2023 Aurealis Award for best horror, the novel was bought by Mirari Press.
Publisher Marius Du Plessis says: “I have to warn our readers: BUNNY is the kind of book that is going to stick with you for a long time. Get ready for a page-turner that will have you shallow-breathing with terror – BUNNY is a dark, scary, funny, haunting book that’s going to keep readers on the edges of their seats (although undercover reading is recommended). An absolute coup for Mirari to add BUNNY onto our list for 2024.”
BUNNY tells the story of scriptwriters Silas and his girlfriend Rose who head back to Silas’s childhood home. Back to the woods. Back to the darkness. Back to his terrifying Aunt Bunny… Silas has a mission – get in, finish the script they’re working on, and get out.
Back home, Aunt Bunny and his hedonistic mother, Lou Lou, are living through the ravages of alcoholic codependency and what seems to be mental illness. At the homestead, a nearby lake, and even a roadside diner, Silas and Rose witness bizarre, unnerving behaviours and psychological events that challenge their patience and sanity. The events seem to be connected to an ancient presence deep in the woods which is working to draw Silas back into the family. It will not let him go, and neither will Aunt Bunny.
BUNNY is published in Australia by Pan Macmillan Australia and was an Apple Book Must Listen.
