We're opening submissions for our next anthology, and this one runs on hunger, heat, and wanting that outlasts death. Welcome to IMMORTALS.

 

What we’re looking for

Of all the monsters we've invented, the vampire is the one we keep inviting back in. It has always been the most seductive: a creature of appetite and patience, of the slow approach and the willing throat. The bite has stood in for sex, for surrender, for intimacy and its dangers, in every century that has told its story. The vampire endures because desire endures, and because some hungers were never meant to die.

For IMMORTALS, we want open-door vampire romance. The romance must be central, the heat must be explicit and on the page and the vampire must be essential to the story. We're not looking for a fanged love interest who could just as easily be human. The vampire's nature should shape the desire, the stakes, and the transformation at the heart of the piece. Predator and prey, eternity and the mortal who tempts it, the cost of being wanted forever – give us the tension only a vampire can carry.

We want the full spectrum of desire. Stories of every sexual orientation are welcome and wanted – we're building a collection as varied as longing itself. Whatever the pairing or the configuration, we ask that the intimacy be mutual and the wanting run both ways; even the darkest predator-and-prey play should be a dance both partners choose.

Stories may be tender or ferocious, gothic or contemporary, aching or playful. We're drawn to strong character arcs, emotional clarity, and distinctive voices.

Submission guidelines

• Length: 8,000–12,000 words

• Language: English

• Theme: Vampires and romance, both central to the story

• Heat level: Open door  (explicit, consensual, on-page intimacy)

• Publication status: Unpublished work only (no reprints, blogs, or self-published pieces)

A note on boundaries

This is a dark, sensual collection, and we want stories that go to the dangerous, hungry places the genre does best. But some lines we will not cross, and submissions that contain the following will be declined without further consideration:

• Any sexualisation of minors. Every character in a romantic or sexual situation must be an adult. A vampire who has lived for centuries but appears, is described as, or reads as a child or adolescent does not qualify. Apparent age matters as much as stated age. There are no exceptions to this, and no framing that makes it acceptable.

• Non-consent or coercion as titillation. The predator-and-prey charge is part of what makes vampire romance electric, and we welcome it, but the intimacy itself must be consensual and mutually wanted. Stories that present sexual violence, or "dubious consent," as the erotic draw are not what we're looking for. The danger can be real; the wanting must run both ways.

How many stories will be included, and will I get paid?

We will select SIX stories for inclusion.
Each chosen author will sign a standard publishing agreement and receive royalties from every print and ebook sale.

 

Who can submit and where will it be published?

Anyone from anywhere in the world may submit.
The anthology will appear in print in and ebook worldwide.
