She stole a relic to buy her way off a dying rock. Now the captain who gave her passage owns her contract, her loyalty and the chip in her arm.

Mirari Press is thrilled to announce the acquisition of STARVOYD by Andrea Le Riche, the first book in a planned six-book space-opera series, scheduled for release in 2027.

On Catharis, a mining planet in the Delta Eridani system, a woman's worth is counted in how many children she has. Alex Vealor has made herself worth something else: she works the deepest seams in the mines, hidden inside a suit two sizes too big, cutting Voydsilver out of the rock.

Then, at the bottom of a fissure, she finds a shard of something that should not exist. When she touches it, she sees a star die.

So when a warship lands on Catharis and its captain comes looking for the shard, Alex has the only bargaining chip she will ever hold. She tells Captain Azaren she has swallowed it. It is the start of a very bad working relationship, and of a trade that buys her a berth on his ship.

"Andrea writes people you would follow into black hole without a second thought," said Marius du Plessis, Publisher at Mirari Press. "Alex is small in a universe built for bigger people, and she is so funny about it and so angry about it that I was on her side from the first page. Then the crew of that ship got hold of me, and I stopped taking notes and just read. Underneath the banter and the slow-burn tension there is a genuinely big idea about what (and who) humanity chooses to save, and who it leaves behind. I can't wait to take this journey with our readers."
