Mirari Press has signed Chanté du Plessis for a two-book urban fantasy deal. Book one, When Sinners Sing, will be published in 2027.
It happened in an instant. One moment they were there. The next, vanished…
Sevea and Lincoln are the last of the Seven Deadly Sins. After the disappearance of their siblings, Sevea and Lincoln find themselves in a fragile armistice with the most unlikely of allies: Mika, the last Blood Angel and servant of the Angel Commander Uriel.
Together, the Sins and the Angel search for the missing Sins. With unknown enemies closing in, and the Dark Lands stirring, Mika and Sevea must face their pasts to save the people they hold dear, or drown in its dark lakes. But the dark is full of secrets, and while battling their growing trust of each other, betrayal looms near.
Teeming with witchcraft and blood magic, When Sinners Sing is perfect for fans who yearn for the angelic and gothic atmosphere of The Mortal Instruments.
"When Sinners Sing will have readers in a chokehold. The world is unique, the magic supremely satisfying, and Sevea and Mika will worm their way into even the most hardened hearts," says Marius du Plessis, CEO and Publisher (no relation to the author). "It's an honour to welcome Chanté to the Mirari ranks—her writing is fresh, urgent, and all-consuming. She achieves what few can: making the reader root for those we should want to fail. This duology is a necessary addition to the corpus of not only the South African, but the international fantasy literature."
