LUKE FOURIE
Luke is a Capetonian writer who grew up in the sleepy suburb of Table View. His writing spirit was born somewhere between Blouberg beach and Rietvlei. He was drawn to dramatic arts, public speaking, and debating before finally realising his artistic pursuits were all leading him towards writing. The lure of higher education brought him to the University of Cape Town where he discovered his twin passions: literature and linguistics.
By day, Luke works as an Operations Editing Specialist for Grammarly where he spends his time honing, tweaking and sharpening the writing of others, collaborating with an internationally-dispersed but tight-knit team, and trying not to let corporate lingo alter his brain chemistry (but maybe we can circle back to that one).
In those spare moments – when Luke isn't working, cooking, cleaning,
sleeping, recycling, boyfriending or taking cheeky walks on the Alphen – he's writing. He is influenced by nature, ancestry, belonging, technology, language, the complex neighbourhood we call our minds, and above all human (re)connection.
He lives in Wynberg with his partner Katherine where they’re trying to
negotiate with their landlord to get a kitten.
