Ciaran R. maidwell

Ciaran R. Maidwell is a writer and communications strategist with a background in film and television. He is passionate about telling stories that highlight the minutiae and magnificence of queer existence. For more than six years, Ciaran has contributed to Gay Pages, South Africa’s only gay glossy magazine - writing about the queer experience, addressing stigma within the gay community, and interviewing local queer authors. His short fiction has been published in the 2024 Karavan Press anthology, Temperature, as well as the inaugural 2025 Mirari Press spec-fic anthology, The Seven Wonders. 

 

In his day job, Ciaran works with impact-based organisations to build brand narratives and simplify complex industry jargon. His experience extends across healthcare, renewable energy, fintech, education, and even cybersecurity. He has also written over 100 hours of live TV scripts for SABC’s flagship kids show, Hectic Nine 9. 

 

Ciaran lives in Cape Town with his partner and their dog, Versace, who is the love of his life.
